North Hollywood Stucco & Exterior
Stucco around wider glass doors in North Hollywood, done in order: header, sill pan, door, jamb and head flashing, lapped paper, lath, then the plaster coats.
The header comes first when a North Hollywood wall is cut for wider glass. Temporary posts carry the roof load, the old studs are removed, and the engineered header is lifted into place on its supports. Only then does the waterproofing start, at the bottom of the hole: a sill pan, the door set into it, side flashing, head flashing, and finally paper lapped downward over all of it. Plaster is the last trade on the wall.
Sill pan to head flashing
The sill pan is a formed or self-adhered membrane that covers the rough sill and turns up at the back and ends. The door is set on that pan, and the sealant at its bottom flange is left with gaps so the pan can drain outward. Flashing tape runs up each jamb over the door flange, and a metal head flashing caps the top. Every piece sits over the one beneath it, so anything that gets behind the trim is steered back out. Framing is inspected before this stage begins.
Paper, lath and the coats
With the opening sealed, new building paper is woven into the existing layers: the upper sheets lap over the head flashing, and the sheets lower down tuck under the lower edge of the sill pan. Galvanized lath is fastened to the framing, and an LADBS inspector checks it before plaster covers it. The scratch coat is scored, kept damp and allowed to firm up, the brown coat follows and cures, and the finish coat goes on last, tinted to the wall around it. Sealant at the trim goes in once the finish has hardened.

Stucco & Exterior in North Hollywood: what people ask
It can blend closely. A test panel near the door shows the texture and tint beside the existing finish before the full patch goes on. Where the old face has faded unevenly, a color coat over the entire wall gives the cleanest result, and the panel lets you judge that choice too.
It turns on the bond between plaster and lath. Where that bond holds and the damage is confined to a spot, a patch is enough. Where it holds but the face has worn, a color coat renews it. Where plaster sounds hollow over wide areas or cracks keep coming back, restucco is the lasting repair.
Cutting or widening an opening, replacing framing or restuccoing a whole wall generally needs a permit, and in North Hollywood that comes from LADBS. Light cosmetic repair may not. We confirm the requirement first, and the inspections fall where the order of work already leaves the layers open to view.
