Stucco and exterior work
When a wall opens up, the outside skin has to close cleanly around it. We patch, restucco and finish exteriors so the new opening looks like it was always there.
Closing the wall around a new opening
Cutting a wider opening leaves raw edges in the stucco, the paper behind it and the lath. We rebuild that layer in order: weather barrier lapped over the new door flashing, lath fastened to the framing, then a scratch coat, a brown coat and a finish that matches the texture around it. Done in that sequence, the patch stays dry and the line between old and new fades.
Restucco and color coats
Some walls are past patching. Cracks that keep coming back, soft spots or a finish that has chalked out can call for a new color coat or a full restucco. We look at the wall first and tell you which one it needs, and why.
Trim, fascia and the rest of the shell
Exterior work also covers trim around doors and windows, fascia, soffits and the edges where a patio cover or deck ties into the house. Those joints are where water gets in, so we detail them with flashing rather than caulk alone.
Stucco & Exterior: questions
We sample the texture and finish on a small area first, so you can see the match before the whole patch goes on. Color is easier to blend with a fresh coat over the full wall.
Repairs often do not. A full restucco or work tied to a new opening usually does. We check with your city before we quote.
A new color coat is integral, so it does not need paint. If you prefer paint, we let the stucco cure first and then use a breathable coating.
