Alhambra Windows & Doors, in the Right Order

The Alhambra order of work for a wider opening: engineered header first, rough opening measured in the wall, then door ordered and set.

Tell us about the opening, deck or room

We read every request and reply to set up a measure. Photos of the wall or yard help, and we ask for them by email. How we use your details.

The header gets settled before the door is ordered, and the door is ordered before the wall is touched. That sequence protects an Alhambra house from the classic trap in glass work: a finished unit that does not match the opening it was cut for. Shoring, framing and trim all follow from it. Everything downstream waits on the numbers.

From drawing to rough opening

The engineer's drawing fixes the beam and the post locations. The permit follows. Once approved, the rough opening is measured in the real wall and the door order is placed against those numbers. When the unit arrives, it is checked against the order before demolition begins. Only then does the wall come open, with temporary support in place and the new beam set in the same stretch of work. Window units that go in with the door follow the same measured-then-ordered rhythm.

Tight access and tidy exits

On a tight lot, access matters: where panels are staged, where debris is loaded and how glass reaches the back of the house. Floors are covered, plastic walls off the dust, and the old door leaves through the yard. If the side path is narrow, panel sizes are reviewed before the order so every piece can be carried in by hand. Dust control stays up until the last trim piece is nailed. A template cut to panel size is carried in from the street to the back wall, so tight turns show up before anything is ordered.
