Torrance Decks & Patios

Torrance decks and covers planned around the air conditioner, gas meter, hose bib and vents already on the wall, with clear access kept to each one.

Tell us about the opening, deck or room

We read every request and reply to set up a measure. Photos of the wall or yard help, and we ask for them by email. How we use your details.

Where does the air conditioner go? Where does the gas meter sit? What about the hose bib and the electrical panel? Questions about the equipment already on the wall come up at the first walk-through of a Torrance deck site, because a new platform or cover has to leave room around each one. Each one is marked on the lot before the deck edge is drawn.

Working around equipment

Service access has to stay clear, so we measure the clearances around a condenser, a meter or a panel and draw the deck edge to leave them. A removable board section can cover a valve box or cleanout while still allowing access. Where equipment must move, the plan says by how much, and the right trade relocates it before framing. A cover post near a meter may be shifted to keep the working space that code requires in front of it.

Venting and water

Dryer vents, crawlspace vents and gutter outlets also need a path. A deck that blocks a crawlspace vent starves the space under the house of air, so the vent gets extended or the deck gets a gap there. Gutter outlets are redirected to clear the new surface. Hose bibs stay reachable, and any outdoor outlet gets a weatherproof cover. In a coastal setting, exposed metal parts near these spots get corrosion-resistant fasteners. Each spot is marked on the plan so nothing gets buried by a rail or a stair.
