Powder-coated aluminum is the first material to put on the table for a Camarillo patio cover. The finish does not rot, does not call for fresh paint every few seasons, and holds up where damp air carries salt, which a lot near the water may see. Wood beams and posts still suit some houses, and the pick follows the look the room wants and where the sun lands.

Frames, boards and fasteners

Aluminum cover frames stay straight and need only a rinse. Cedar and redwood beams bring warmth and take stain well, though they need resealing on a schedule. Composite boards with a polymer shell resist moisture and fading. Whatever the frame, the hardware matters most in damp air: coated or stainless screws, bolts and hangers keep their strength where salt may settle on the metal. We match each material to the exposure the lot actually has, then price the options side by side.

Surfaces underfoot

A patio surface faces the sun all day. Pale pavers and light porcelain tile stay cooler under bare feet than dark stone. Pavers on a compacted base let water through and can be lifted for repairs. Poured concrete takes a broom finish for grip. Flagstone gives an irregular, natural look but needs tight joints to avoid tripping. Each is pitched gently away from the house, and the edge is restrained with a firm border so the surface does not creep or shift over the seasons.
