Openings, decks and shade in Inglewood, Los Angeles County
Inglewood Rooms Opened to the Outdoors
The City of Inglewood reviews wide door openings, attached covers and raised decks. Palmcrest Contractors draws, files and builds them to open rooms outdoors.
Plans for a wider opening in an Inglewood bearing wall, an attached patio cover or a raised deck are reviewed by the City of Inglewood building department. That review covers the beam and posts an engineer sizes, the way the cover connects to the house and the footings under any deck. We prepare those drawings, submit them and build in the order the inspections run, so each stage is approved before the next one covers it.
Making a compact yard feel larger
When the yard is small, the room beside it can do some of the work. A folding door that stacks to one side clears nearly the full width, and a patio laid at almost the same height as the inside floor lets the two spaces read as one. Pale pavers bounce light back into the room, and a low planter along the edge gives the eye somewhere to land. Outdoor lighting along that border carries the room into the evening once the doors are folded back.
Shade you can adjust
An adjustable louvered roof turns from open slats to a closed, rain shedding cover with a crank or a motor. Over a new glass opening, that control decides how much sun reaches the floor inside at each hour. Posts are spaced to match the door panels behind them, so nothing interrupts the view from the room. A fixed solid cover costs less and still gives full shade and a dry spot during a winter storm. Either top can carry wiring for lights or a fan, run while the framing is still exposed.
